Founders Park

Eureka! We found it!

Founders Park is located just behind the City Fire Station, one block east of the stoplight & 1/2 block north.

Founders Park is so named for the spring located at the northwest corner of the park on the alley. There is a monument at the spring location commemorating the discovery of the spring & the naming of Eureka by the founding pioneers. The story relates that a weary group of settlers had heard of a spring in the area & short on water had begun a diligent search for it. One lucky settler, after coming across the spring, called out "Eureka!" I have found it!"

Located in the park is a wonderful pavilion designed & built by students from K-state. The Pavilion can be used for family gatherings, outdoor events, presentations, cook-outs, and much more, There is electricity available & water planned for the future.

Lyons Park

Lions Park is located on South Jeffferson Street just outside of the city limits.

Lyons Park is a peaceful park away from the hustle & bustle of life. There is a 1/2 mile walking trail, a playground for children, tennis courts, sand volleyball, and a shelter house with picnic tables for family cook-outs. Lyons Diamond hosts several ball tournaments each summer.

Lyons Park is a great place for an evening out with the family for dinners, walking, letting the kids play, & enjoying the outdoors.
