Heavy Rains Cause Eureka's Own Niagra Falls

Eureka Lake Falls An Impresive Sight

With all the recent rains we have had the soil has been saturated. So with last weeks 5 in down pour the runoff was tremoundous. This caused the level of Eureka Lake to raise dramiaticly. The volume of water coming over the falls was incredible and was a sight to behold. The pictures above show the falls with normal water flow, then one shows the falls at flood stage. You can match up the small trees at the edge of the cliff in both pictures to get an idea of really how much water there is.

There are plans to remove some of the view obstructing trees this fall so that the falls can be seen from the road again.
